Colorado Great Pyrenees Rescue
Issue: Megan Weber’s client, the Colorado Great Pyrenees Rescue (“CGPR”), is a breed-specific canine rescue organization. CGPR has been operating under the umbrella status of another 501 (c) 3 and needs to obtain its own tax-exempt status to keep receiving nonprofit benefits vital to the organization’s continued survival. CGPR has extremely limited financial resources and significant time restraints.
Solution: Weber Law’s Jump Start package for nonprofits package was just right for the the struggling nonprofit. Megan assisted CGPR with incorporation, bylaws, corporate minutes, state and federal tax-exempt status applications and other supporting documents. She drafted a conflict of interest policy to ensure IRS approval. She also provided CGPR with guidelines and additional instructions on maintaining its IRS status over the long-term.
Outcome: CGPR is waiting for official approval of its 501(c)3 designation from the IRS. The organization is well on its way to becoming a legal, nonprofit dog rescue able to accept tax-exempt donations.
